It was established in 1899 by Swami Vivekananda, a well-known yogi, and Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa’s disciple.

Here at the large prayer hall, you can meditate or recite Vedic mantras while sitting quietly for extended periods. You can also see the sacred relics of Sri Ramakrishna on a marble pedestal with a full-size statue of him sitting on a lotus with 100 petals above it.

2. Swami Vivekananda Temple

Swami Vivekananda Temple was inaugurated on January 28, 1928, and it lies on the site where Swamiji’s mortal remains were cremated. There is an “Om” in Bengali letters inscribed in marble.

A bel tree lies near the temple and is extremely important because it is in the exact location of the old tree. Swamiji occasionally loved to sit and contemplate under the ancient tree, and he requested that he be cremated next to it.

3. Swami Vivekananda’s room

Swami Vivekananda’s room is close to the old shrine. Swamiji lived in this room, where he attained Mahasamadhi.

Most of the things from various places and eras still there were used by him. Swamiji would also greet guests and disciples under the mango tree in the courtyard in front of his room.

4. The Old Shrine

The Old Shrine is located northeast of the Sri Ramakrishna Temple. It was the original shrine, where daily prayer was held until the current temple was dedicated.

This shrine resurrects the venerable memory of Swami Vivekananda and other pupils of Sri Ramakrishna who used to pray, contemplate, and chant.

5. The Ramakrishna Museum

The Ramakrishna Museum is a fantastic site for history lovers because it houses some of the things used by Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi (the Holy Mother), and Swami Vivekananda.
