Digha is one of the most popular tourist spots in West Bengal. It is also the favorite weekend destination for the people of West Bengal.

This place is about a 4 hours drive from Kolkata, and is, therefore, one of the best places to visit near the city. Trains and Buses between Kolkata and Digha are also available.

New Digha Sea Beach is actually a man-made beach located about 2kms away from the original Digha beach. This is done for easy accessibility of the tourists from hotels.

The soft sands of the New Digha beach make up for a lovely weekend getaway near Kolkata. This beach is famous for its alluring sunrise and sunset, which are beautiful beyond words.

2. Old Digha Sea Beach

Old Digha Beach is the original sea beach that is located near the entrance of the city. This beach was the one in existence for a long time.

However, in recent times, a lot of improvements have been done on this beach. The place is well decorated and attracts a lot of tourists.

Renovating the Old Digha sea beach was one of the major projects of the West Bengal government.

You will definitely enjoy the view of the ocean from here, especially during the evening time. There is a small market right next to this beach in case you want to buy a souvenir from Digha.

3. Shankarpur Beach

The Shankarpur Sea beach is also known as the twin beach of the New Digha Sea Beach. It is located at a distance of about 14 km from Digha through Contai road.

This makes this sea beach one of the best places to visit near Digha.

If you have gone by car, you can take your own car and go there. Parking is available at the beach. You can also go there by hiring an Auto or Toto from your Hotel at New Digha.

This beach is covered with Casuarinas trees. Shankarpur beach is less crowded than Digha. You will get a lovely view of the beach surrounded by local fishing boats and rows of trees.

4. The Marine Aquarium and Research Center (MARC)

Another attraction of Digha is The Marine Aquarium and Research Center, which is located on the opposite side of Digha State General Hospital.

This is the largest and well equipped marine aquarium in the Country.

Marine Aquarium and Research Center Timings: Monday to Saturday between 09:30 A.M and 06:00 P.M.

5. Digha Science Center

Digha Science Center has a lot of attractions including the Planetarium and the Jurassic Age Park.

It also houses a lot of science projects and fun activities for children to play and have a lovely time.

If you are visiting Digha with your children, I would highly recommend you to visit this place.

6. Talsari Beach

The Talsari beach is a very charming and delightful beach located in the state of Orissa. The distance from Digha to this place is only about 10 km.

The famous Subarnarekha river meets the Bay of Bengal at this point. The main attraction of Talsari Beach is the red crabs.

During high tides, the water gets to the shore and creates a small sand island in the middle. Boat rides are available at this place.

7. Amravati Park

Amravati Park is a small park located near the New Digha sea beach. The park has a small lake called the Amravati lake.

You can get the pleasure of boat riding on this lake.

There is also a ropeway above the lake that you can ride.

Besides this park, Dipak Mitra’s snake farm is another place to visit near Digha.

8. Mandarmani

Mandarmani is a perfect beach for those who don’t like crowded places.

You can say that Mandarmani is a solitary beach. But this place is gaining popularity day by day among tourists.

Located only at a distance of 23 km from Digha, this is one of the best places to visit near Digha. Local transport services are available to reach Mandarmani.

This place has some of the best resorts with swimming pools for you to enjoy.

Mandarmani beach here is flatter and wider than the New Digha beach.

It is also a motorable beach which is approx 13 km long. You can also enjoy driving on this beach.

9. Udaipur Beach

The Udaipur beach in Digha is one of the most pristine and exquisite sea beaches in India.

This lovely beach is dotted with towering casuarina trees and the makeshift stalls of the fishermen who sell fish here.

The place is especially famous for its scenic beauty, and people from all parts of the world visit the beach to capture these wonderful views in their sight forever.

You can choose from a number of exciting options for activities at Udaipur Beach and enjoy yourself with friends and family.

These include swimming, taking a long walk along the seashore, enjoying adventure sports such as Speed Boat or Banana Boat, riding bikes, or tasting the local delicacies.

10. Bichitrapur Mangrove Sanctuary

Bichitrapur is a small hamlet in the Baleswar (Balasore) district of Odisha and around 15 km from Digha in West Bengal.

It is developed by Odisha Forest Sector Development Programme for the regeneration, conservation, and protection of mangrove forests. A boat ride is the best option to explore the forest for a 1hr tour.

This new Spot is recently opened to the public and has already become one of the best places to visit near Digha.

Bichitrapur is at the border of the Baleshwar District and Purba Medinipur District. The boat ride will take you to the deep forest of mangroves & the meeting point of the Subarnarekha river & the Bay of Bengal Sea.

You can find Red Crabs, rare Tortoises, and mangrove trees during your ride.
