ISKON was founded by Sri Prabhupada and Mayapur was foretold by Lord Nityananda, a close associate of Shri Chaitanya about 500 years ago.

The Temple of Vedic Planetarium (Chandrodaya Mandir) has Sudarshan Chakras of golden base weighing a few tonnes, therefore also known as golden Mayapur ISKCON temple of Bengal.


Shrila Prabhupada asked Mr Henry Ford, founder of Ford's company, to build his temple of dreams in 1976.
