Dahi Pepper Chicken Recipe
Equipment
- 1 Kadhai
- 1 Induction Cooktop
- 1 Mixer Grinder
Ingredients
- 500 g Chicken
- Chopped Onion
- Chilli paste
- Ginger garlic paste
- Cumin seeds / quite a bit of black pepper
- Chaat masala / Garam masala
- Coriander leaf paste
- Kasuri methi
- Refined oil
- Curd
Instructions
Preparing the main masala
- Take some cumin seeds and a lot of black pepper and dry fry them in a Tawa or Kadai.
- Now grind it into powder form using a mixer grinder.
Marination of the chicken
- Take around 500-gram chicken and drain all the water present.
- Now add curd, cumin, and whole black pepper powder, a pinch of turmeric powder, salt and a paste of green chilies and coriander leaves, 3 cloves garlic, and a little ginger paste. You can also add lemon zest to enhance the taste.
- Keep it aside for about 2 hours.
Cooking Instructions
- Take 2 to 3 spoons of refined oil in a Kadai.
- Once it starts to sizzle, add the chopped onions.
- When it starts to turn golden brown, at the garlic ginger paste, salt as per taste, and garam masala powder.
- You can also add chaat masala instead of garam masala if you want.
- Now mix the masala well.
- Once it starts to release water, add the marinated chicken pieces only. Don’t add the marinated masala at this stage.
- Now fry it in the Kadai for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, add the leftover marinated masala into the Kadai.
- Add a little bit of water so that the chicken is cooked well and turns soft and juicy.
- Cover it with a lid and let it cook for 20 minutes on a low flame.
- Once it's done, open the lid and add some Kasuri Methi.
Your pepper chicken is now ready.
