By Train

You need to travel to Bangaon or Ranaghat from Kolkata (Sealdah railway station) by train and then take a bus to Naldungri. From Naldungri, you can reach the sanctuary either by walking or by a van rickshaw/Toto.

By Bus

You need to travel to Ranaghat from Kolkata by bus and then take another bus to Naldungri. From Naldungri, you can reach the sanctuary either by walking or by a Toto.

By Car

You need to drive along State Highway 3 to reach Naldungri via Duttafulia. From Naldungri, you can easily reach the sanctuary which is just a few kilometres away.

Bibhutibhushan Wildlife Sanctuary history

The sanctuary was established in 1984 when 14 chitals (spotted deer) were released into the forest. It was known as the Parmadan Forest. In 1980, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary and renamed as Bibhutibhushan Wildlife Sanctuary in 1995, as a tribute to the famous writer who was born in the same district.

In 1996, 26 more chitals were added to the sanctuary, which now houses around 250 of them. The sanctuary also hosts rabbits, langurs, and various species of migratory birds.
